Stoughton- Addie Ree Gault will be remembered as a woman who laughed easily and made friends effortlessly and for this, she will be greatly missed.
Addie went to be with her God on March 29, 2022. She was born in the small town of Ithaca, WI to Francis Gault and Alice Kearney Gault on January 24, 1938 and spent most of her childhood in Portage, WI. After graduating from Portage High School she followed the long family tradition of becoming an educator by attending Stevens Point Teachers’ College where she pursued her certification in mathematics. She inspired students with her love of learning and affable spirit during her tenure at Stoughton Middle School from which she retired in 1993. Although she may not have known it, she served as a great role model by embodying that girls and woman can thrive in their mathematical endeavors.
Upon retiring Addie Ree did not hesitate to involve herself in volunteering for the First United Methodist Church and the Skaalen Home gift shop where she formed lifelong friends. Her love of acting awarded her roles in various plays in the Stoughton Community Players and her commitment to community drew her to volunteering for the annual Syttende Mai festival. Addie was meticulous when knitting her famous afghans of which she gifted many. Those that knew her were well acquainted with her love of cats, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, luncheons with retired teachers, watching the sandhill cranes from her living room window, visiting with her condo neighbors and watching her beloved Brewers and Packers faithfully.
Addie Ree is survived by her brother Bill (Judi) Gault, Appleton, niece Jill Gault, Oak Bluffs, MA, nephew Bradley Gault, Appleton, and her great nephews Caiden, Isaac and Braxtyn. She is also survived by additional family members and friends.
