McFarland- Addison T. ""Mac"" McLain, age 85, died on Friday, August 27, 2010 at his home.  Mac was born in Marinette, WI on August 22, 1925, the son of Addison and Mabel McLain.  The family moved to Wauwatosa where he finished high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served six years of active duty.  As a Staff Sergeant he was the welterweight boxing champ while stationed at Camp Lejeune, and served in the Asian-Pacific Area as a tail gunner, radio operator and navigator on a B-24.  During a leave he met the former Betty Prohaska at a dance on a blind date and would later marry. Betty was sold on his ability to cut-a-rug' and carry a tune.  Mac was a graduate of Marquette University with Majors in Philosophy and Economics.  After his discharge from active duty in the Corp, he returned to Marquette and earned his law degree and became a member of the bar. He worked his way through law school doing shift work in a foundry, and a brewery.  He left a legacy of a strong work ethic, a love of reading, giving back to the community, and a willingness to take on any argument worth standing up for.   Mac spent his career in the insurance industry managing the risks and claims of CIGNA formerly INA. Mac and Betty raised three children, Kathy Miller (Gary) of Juneau, AK; Mike (Lynn) of Green Bay/McFarland, WI; and Dan (Pam) of Spring, TX.  Mac had six grandchildren Shawn, Jenny, Nick, Andy, Phil, and Danielle, and one great grandson, Mike, ""Bubs"".  Mac, a cribbage player of significant prowess, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  This is one reason he and Betty moved from Milwaukee to the Ixonia area where they lived for twenty years enjoying the rural setting and all that had to offer.  Upon reaching retirement, they packed their worldly belongings and moved to Wistaria, British Columbia where they spent 22 fulfilling years surrounded by beautiful vistas and wonderful neighbors and friends in the open country.  Mac returned to WI two years ago this September after Betty; the love of his life had passed and lived there with his trusted companion ""Smokey"" until his peaceful death.  Mac's health was not the best and as much as he wanted to live independently was assisted by Mary Fischer, the owner of Just Checking In, and her care giving staff.  A special and heart felt thank you for the quality of care that was provided by Mary, Kathy, Pat, Sherry, Marilee, Joan, ""The Jeff"", Katie, Ryan, Leah, Wendy, and Mykola.  You enabled our dad to live out the last period of his life in a manner of his choosing with dignity, respect, and above all, love.
