Adele Waterbury

June 12, 1927 — February 26, 2018

Madison - Adele Waterbury, age 90, of Madison, went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 26, after a brief illness. Adele was born in Lake Mills, WI on June 12, 1927, to the late Benjamin and Esther Stroede. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1945. Adele married Parkis George Waterbury on June 12, 1948. They had five children, one daughter, and four sons.

Adele lived most of her adult life in Madison. She was one of the founding members of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, Fitchburg, where she was a member until her death. An accomplished pianist, Adele became Christ Memorial's first organist and continued to play for over 50 years. In addition, she sang in the choir and played hand bells.

After her years as a stay at home mom, she worked for Snyder General Managing Agencies Insurance Company for 28 years. Adele later worked at Christ Memorial as a volunteer coordinator and care ministry coordinator.

She was an active member of the Reserve Officers Association League, on both the state and national level and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Adele enjoyed quilting, golfing, and dancing in her spare time, as well as spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Adele's faith and family were the most important things in her life. She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her children, Parkis Robert (Joy) Waterbury, Dalton, WI, Mary Ruth (Leonard) Sheard, Waupaca, WI, Timothy George (Kari) Waterbury, Ridgeway, WI, Mark Edward Waterbury, Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; her Husband, Parkis George Waterbury, a son, William John Waterbury, and her sister, Sylvia Norbert.

Funeral services will be held at CHRIST MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2833 Raritan Road, Fitchburg, on Friday, March 2, 2018, at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Girlies Manor, Cross Plains, and St. Mary's Hospital for the great care they gave to Adele in the last part of her life.

Memorials can be made to the church at Christ Memorial, WNWC Christian Radio station, or Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
