Agnes Ellis

Agnes Lorraine Ellis, age 93, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Agrace Hospice in Janesville, WI.  She was born in Rutland Township to Elmer and Hannah (Anderson) Hanson on April 20, 1929.  She attended Hillcrest Country School and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1946.

Lorraine married Marvin Benjamin Ellis on June 1, 1947 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stoughton.  She worked for over 28 years, retiring in 1989, from Stoughton Hospital.  Marvin and Lorraine wintered in Texas and spent summer in Wisconsin for 16 years until Marvin’s death in January of 2004.  Lorraine was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church and a resident of Skaalen Home for the past five years.

Lorraine was an amazing cook who loved to dance, fish, and be “on the lake.”  She is survived by her three children: Steve (Kathy) Ellis of Lodi, Mark (Nan) Ellis of Janesville, and Lori Ellis (Lloyd Gustrowsky); special friend of Floyd Gustrowsky; her grandchildren: Lisa (Michael) Parsons of Florida, Benjamin (Tracy) Ellis of Poynette, Sara (Jim) Brewer of Janesville, Adam (Kasey) Fredendall of Colorado, Kevin (Mary) Fredendall of Madison, Ron (Julie) Gardner of Stoughton, and Stephanie (Terry) Wanninger of Stoughton.  Lorraine is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine is further survived by her sister Patricia (Rodney) Wilberg of Janesville; sisters-in-law: Esther Ellis of Colorado and Mary Lynn (Jon) Langsdorf of Poynette; and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her infant sister; her parents; her grandson Chad Ellis; her husband Marvin; her daughter Sue Gardner; her brothers: Clifford and Martin Peterson; and her sister Hazel Moe.

A private ceremony will be held for the family at Cress Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, Janesville.
