Agnes M. Ropers, 108, of Waunakee passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her home.
Agnes, daughter of John and Esther (Alexander) Accola was born on May 8, 1912 in Merrimac, WI. She married Lester Marquardt on April 20, 1942, and he preceded her death on August 5, 1943. She later married Leonard Ropers on August 10, 1951, and he preceded her death on March 29, 1997. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Waunakee.
She worked as a waitress and store clerk in Baraboo.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Shellie Richards; great-grandchildren, Austin Richards and Chandler Richards; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lester Marquardt and Leonard Ropers; her daughter, Kara Acker; her grandson, Mark Irwin; her great-granddaughter, Danyelle Richards; her sisters, Esther Griffin and Ida Mae Erickson; and her brother, Ivan Accola.
Agnes was a true blessing to those who knew her. Family time was very important to her. Her values were high and her heart was large. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, gratitude, dignity, and strength.
