Alan J. Derr died on July 25th, 2016. He was born on August 8th, 1950 to LeRoy and Marion (Feuling) Derr in Columbus, Wisconsin.
Alan attended St. John's School for the Deaf in Milwaukee. He lived in Madison for the rest of his life. Alan was known for his quirky sense of humor and his kindness to help folks.
He will be deeply missed by the Deaf community and the Bethel Lutheran Church community. He leaves behind his siblings and their families: two sisters, Carol (Don) Hollander of Columbus and Annette (Gary) Miller of Tomahawk; six brothers Gerald (Elaine) Derr of Columbus, Fred (Nina Look) Derr of Mequon, Jim (Sharon) Derr of Sun Prairie, Gary (Julie Coleman) Derr of Brookings, Ore., Tom Derr of Plover, and Mike (Karen) Derr of Columbus. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Mary Crombie and an infant brother Larry. Family and friends gathered to remember Alan on August 27, 2016.
