Madison - Alan F. Larson, age 74, entered into eternal life on October 31, 2017. Alan was born in La Crosse on May 31, 1943, the third son of Lawrence and Lucile (Blumentritt) Larson. Growing up in La Crosse, he attended La Crosse Logan High School, and in 1965 graduated from the University of WI - La Crosse. On April 10, 1965, he and Sally Jane Turner were joined in marriage in La Crosse. After moving to Madison, they were blessed with three sons, Leigh (Kelly), Lawrence (Christina), and Layne (Sarah), and seven wonderful grandchildren, Grant, Logan, Morgan, Elizabeth, Lucy Mae, Luke and Emma Jane. Al was a passionate family man and with a family of sons, he enjoyed being involved in their activities during their growing-up years--coaching sports of all sorts, but mainly soccer, having won 3 City Cups in those years. He also was involved with the Boy Scouts and especially enjoyed the Scout trips to the Boundary Waters. Since he and all 3 sons and their spouses graduated from the U.W., there is extreme loyalty to being Badgers. Al was committed to living out his Christian faith, sharing the Gospel message, involved in Bible studies, and teaching Sunday School. Al's career revolved around computer technology and he was instrumental in formulating Dane County's computer system under Dane County's first County Executive George Reinke, working for Dane County for 20 years. He then spent the next 18 years as the Director of Information Technology for MATC. He was on the Board of Directors for the Dane County Credit Union for over 30 years, serving as Chairman 10 years. After he retired in 2002, he and Sally spent many enjoyable days on the banks of the Mississippi in Cassville, WI, relaxing at Larsons-on-the-River, although relaxing for him was being always busy with his gardens and various projects there. A family favorite was his design and creation of a combination croquet/golf course to play at reunions held in Cassville. He enjoyed old cars, tinkering with his Model-T and Model-A Fords and taking them out on the road now and then. He had many enjoyable years with his golfing buddies--the FLOGers. But the most important time of his life was when, at the age of 20, he put his trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins, becoming a child of God, with a passionate desire to live his life as an Ambassador for His Lord. Al's wish is that all of his family and friends would have the assurance of John 3:16. Other than his immediate family, Al is survived by his brothers Lynn (Sandra) Larson, Theodore Larson, and sister, Laurel (Mark) Komarek. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Keith.
