Madison-On September 16th at the age of 92, Albert Archer Grover passed away in his home in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for his friendly smile and an Irish twinkle in his eye.
Albert was born on October 9, 1920 in Orono, ME, the son of Josephine and Archer Grover. At an early age, he learned how precious life truly is, surviving the Great Depression as he overcame a battle with tuberculosis. He received his degrees from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. After devoting his education and career to research and education in the field of medical microbiology, he retired from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine in 1990.
The obstacles he faced in life were many, but they served to make him a man of great character and principles. Above all else, he valued family. He laid the foundation with time and traditions, devoting everything to the family that he loved.
Albert and Jeanne Rehm, began their legacy of love when they were united in marriage on August 9, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH. They moved to Madison in 1959.
Albert's memory is proudly honored by his wife, Jeanne; children, Maureen (Ron) Bula, Paul (Janeen) Grover, Claudia (Jan) Lease and Shawn Grover (Sally Martin) and grandchildren Patrick Bula, Justine Bula, Shannon Grover, Mackenzie Grover, Brad Lease, Katie Lease and Jessica Grover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 405 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the mass.
The family asks that the tradition of giving be carried forward by donations to the Catholic Multi Cultural Center, 1862 Beld St., Madison, WI 53713.
