Albert A. "Al" Hanson

Albert “Al” Hanson, age 95, of Waunakee, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023. He was born on January 2, 1928, in Madison, WI, to Arthur and Ida (Amble) Hanson. He married Jacqueline (Candela) Hanson and together they have seven children.

Al attended East High School in Madison and then joined the Navy. He was a union sheet metal worker with Local 18 and served as Business Agent for 12 years until his retirement.

Al was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with Leonard, Val, Doc, his sons and grandsons, and many other family members and friends.

Al is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jackie; his children: Al (Belinda), Rob, Craig, Brett, Mark (Bonnie), Dawn, Matt (Edie), and Pat. Also 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is further survived by his brother-in-law Pete Candela. Al was preceded in death by his parents; his half siblings: Pauline, Pearl, and Leonard; his sister-in-law Ginger Sybers; and granddaughter, Rosa.

The family wishes to thank Waunakee Valley Senior Living and Agrace for the care and attention they provided Al in his final days.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Winn Cress Funeral & Cremation Services, 5785 Hwy Q, in Waunakee. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Online expressions of support, condolences, and memories may be made at www.cressfuneralservice.com.
