Alexander Hill

Alexander Hill, 65, of Glasgow, Scotland, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on August 19, 2024. He was born December 29, 1958, to Alexander and Janet “Jen” (Roddie) Hill.

 Alex was a proud father and grandad. He is survived by his three children: Kate Haug, Alex (Isabelle) Kestrel, and Laura Hill; grandchildren Mackenzie Haug and Cameron Kestrel; brothers: David Hill and Jim Hill; and partner Mari Jacobson. Alex was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, Nic Haug, as well as his parents and brother, John Hill.

 Alex was an immigrant who brought his family to Wisconsin from England in 2001 in search of a great life for his children. He valued education and opportunity. He became a naturalized US citizen in 2023.

Alex had a long career in IT after starting out as a computer hobbyist. He was an avid poker player and was an active member of the Madison poker community as well as making frequent trips to Las Vegas with his poker buddies. The poker community and the friends he played with meant a lot to him.

Graveside ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Natural Path Sanctuary, 2299 Spring Rose Road, Verona, WI 53593. A gathering, with food and refreshments, will follow in the Farley Center until 4 p.m. Please dress in casual and outdoor wear.
