MONONA - Alex Linden, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 11, 2021at his home. He was born in Madison, WI on November 14, 1985, and was raised from birth by his adoptive parents, Nick Linden, and Celia Lamper-Linden. Alex graduated from McFarland High School and the Dane County Transitional School. He also attended Madison College and the Madison Media Institute. His most recent jobs included Glass Nickel Pizza and Barley Pop.
Alex had a passion for heavy metal music. He played guitar in several bands, most recently Bereft (WI), under the Prosthetic Records label, along with Zach Johnson, Cade Gentry and Jerry McDougal (Bereft). His very first band, Charred Remains, was started in high school with his good friend and drummer Coady Hutson. Other bands he played in included An End to Flesh and Only to Remain. At age 11 he achieved a black belt in karate and in 8th grade he played on the Madison Area championship soccer team.
When live musical performances were canceled or postponed during the pandemic, Alex turned his creative focus to his second passion, movies. He, along with Zach Johnson, Mike Conway, and Eric Licht produced podcasts reviewing movies under the name The Face/Off Podcast where he was able to exercise his quick wit and relentless sense of humor.
Alex is survived by his fiancé Katie Kane, whom he loved with all of his heart and looked so forward to marrying next year. He is also survived by Katie’s parents Greg and Joan Kane, his dog Larry, his father Nick Linden (partner Pat Spoentgen); his birth father Troy Herro (Dayna), and their son “Bro Seth” Herro (Jaimie and their children Ashton and Quinn), great uncle Lewis Herro; birth mother April Roeben, her three children and mother; godparents Aunt Janet Cooper and Uncle Henry Lamper and many other relatives and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his mother Celia Lamper-Linden, Aunt Mary Sharp, and his grandparents, Fritz and Emme Linden and John and Gloria Lamper.
Alex was a warm, caring individual, and made it a point to routinely reach out to people he cared about. To know him was to love him. He had a natural ability to bring people together and make everyone feel immediately welcomed as a friend. He was deeply loved and will be so missed by so many. Alex’s greatest strength was also his toughest challenge - he cared so intensely about the world around him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alex’s name may be made to the Madison Music Foundry. https://madisonmusicfoundry.wufoo.com/forms/q1o2ools1c7fea0/
The immediate family wishes to thank all those friends, family members and medical professionals (too many to name here) who stood by and supported Alex during these past few months while he struggled with a variety of medical issues.
