Alice Mary Fauerbach

Alice Mary (Bauhs) Fauerbach, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Willow Pointe Memory Care in Verona, Wisconsin. Alice was born in Madison, November 5, 1922, to John and Caroline (Fleckenstein) Bauhs.   A lifelong Madison resident, she attended St. James Grade School and was a 1940 graduate of Madison West High School. On September 11, 1945, Alice married Edward L. (Ned) Fauerbach, following his long awaited and safe return after being held as a P.O.W. in Germany. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Madison Catholic Women's Club, and the Dane County Chapter of American EX-P.O.W.s and DAV. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey ( Sharon), Madison, and Steven (Cynthia), Mayville, and a daughter, Susan (William) Birkenmeier, Verona; four grandchildren; Patrick (Tina) Varney, Jeffrey (Katie) Varney, Jill (Carlyle) Beecher, and Molly (fiance, Timothy Richter) Fauerbach; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lance, Chase and Josie Varney and Claire and Brooke Beecher. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Margaret Fauerbach, Corinne Fauerbach, and Ann Gibson all of Madison, and Mary Fauerbach, Waukesha and a brother-in-law, Walter Christensen, Madison. Alice is further survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ned (1991), her two brothers, Robert and Richard Bauhs and her sister, Phyllis Christensen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, Friday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Ken Fiedler presiding. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.   Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Alice's name to Queen of Peace l Endowment Fund or HospiceCare, Inc.
