Alice M. Weiss

Alice M. Weiss (Laufenberg), age 72, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 after a “Fight Like Hell” battle with cancer. She was born on March 10,1952 in Madison, WI to Margaret & Ted Laufenberg. Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Weiss on December 28, 1974.

Family was her number one priority and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She enjoyed quilting, crafting and recently vending at craft markets with Dick. She worked for 37 years at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and upon retirement, started working at the former Mill House Quilts in Waunakee.

Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Dick Weiss; and their children: Chad (Amy) Weiss and Sarah (Mark) Baumann. Alice was also blessed with three adoring grandchildren: Addy Weiss, Logan Weiss and Avery Baumann. Also, siblings Marion Hellenbrand, Dorthy Statz, Henry (Shirley C.) Laufenberg, Margaret (Ken) Bernards and Ron (Jean) Laufenberg. In-law siblings, Joe Kalscheur, Tom Weiss, Lynette Seiler, Joyce Collins, Dolores Weiss, Connie (Kyle) Davidson and Harry (Jean Stauffacher) Weiss. She is preceded in death by her parents Margret & Ted, sister Loretta Kalscheur, in-laws Edmund and Caroline Weiss, sister-in-laws Shirley A. Laufenberg and Sandy Weiss, brother-in-laws Delmer Hellenbrand, David “Huntz” Statz and Melvin Seiler.

A memorial service will be held on Monday Oct.7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic church, 209 South St. in Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Alice’s family would like to thank Dr. Weber of SSM Heath and her cancer team for their commitment and thoughtful care of Mom over the last 16 months. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and as a devoted wife.
