Allan Coffey

Madison - Allan A. Coffey, age 74 passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on May 11, 1942 in Madison, the son of Mayro and Marion (Savvie) Coffey. On September 20, 1960, Allan was united in marriage to his lifelong love, Judith Jacobson. Allan worked for over 32 years as a zookeeper for the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison until his retirement on June 2, 2001. In his spare time, he loved being in the outdoors camping, fishing and hunting. Allan was an avid Badger and Packer fan. He will be dearly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him for his quick wit, unique sense of humor and vibrant personality.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Judy, four children; Joan (Jeff) Koenig, Jay (Sarah) Coffey, Julie (Ivan) Kubly, James (Maria) Coffey, seven grandchildren; Rachel, Rebecca, Nicole (Gregory), Carly, Amanda, Monica and Jessica, a sister; Judy George and three brothers; Steve (Scott) Evonovich, John (Nancy) Coffey and Mike Evonovich. He is also survived by many other loving family and friends. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Kathern Ann, son Jon, a sister Marlene King and four brothers; Marvin, Melvin and Daniel Coffey and Jeff Drogsvold.

A visitation and time to gather will be held at CRESS FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 3325 East Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses on the TLC Unit at UW-Hospital for all their care and compassion given to Allan and our family.
