Alma ""Dutchie"" Zajac

September 22, 1926 — April 30, 2011

Alma ""Dutchie"" Zajac, age 84, of Waunakee passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. Alma was born on September 22, 1926 to Herman and Alice (Austin) Frey in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. She left northern Wisconsin for Chicago where she eventually met and married Thaddeus ""Ted"" Zajac on October 12, 1946. She spent most of her adult life in the Chicago area retiring from the Honeywell Company in 1985 and moved back to Wisconsin in 1994. She will be remembered most for her ""feisty"" personality and quick wit.

Survivors include her daughter Lorraine Zajac-Knott (Gary Knott) of Waunakee; son Thomas (Becky) Zajac of Cherry Valley, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Brett) Sengbusch, David (Jamie) Maday, Lauren (Kris) Wilcoxen, and Erik Draney (fianc�e Marissa Boyer); great-granddaughters, Julia, Brynne and Brooke Sengbusch; and great-grandsons, Gavin and Liam Maday; and a sister Rose Paulsen.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in January, 1992; her parents; her sister Hilda and her brother Dan.

A memorial service will be held on Friday evening, May 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 5763 County Rd Q, Waunakee with the Reverend Ben Ehrets presiding followed by a reception at the church with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Waunakee Manor for all of their kindness and compassion over the last 5 years towards Alma. All they have all done will never be forgotten.
