Alvin R. Ramsden

Stoughton- Alvin R. Ramsden, age 81, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Nazareth House in Stoughton.  He was born in Avoca on December 18, 1928 to Oscar and Delia (Welke) Ramsden.  Alvin graduated from Stoughton High School in 1946.  On September 9, 1950 he married Shirley Roneid.  Together they farmed in Dunkirk until 1989.  Alvin worked for Famous Fixtures and Stoughton Printing House.  He was very proud of his family.  Alvin loved to play Euchre with his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; three sons, Larry (Sandy), Dan (Mary) and David (Cindy); two daughters, Deb (Dan) Stokstad and Judy (Pete) Patten; grandchildren, Micky (Jamae), Maren (Ty), Chris (Jen), Tracy, Kevin (Renee), Aaron (Jamie), Maggie (Kiley), Ashley, Pete, Michael, Justin and Brittany; great grandchildren, Kaden, Kellan, Sadie, Kali, Brody, Allison, Emily, Eva and Lydia; and several nieces and nephews.  Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Richard; infant great granddaughter, Bailey Ann; two brothers, Dallas and Donald; and sister, Maxine (Martin) Hanson.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at the church immediately following the burial.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  A special thanks to the staff of Nazareth House.
