Stoughton - Alvina P. Johnson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Skaalen Nursing Home. She was born on December 28, 1932 in Dimock, South Dakota, daughter of Raymond and Irene (Hohn) Koster.
She married Robert Johnson on October 21, 1950 in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1957 they purchased a farm in Stoughton where they raised their 6 children. Alvina worked a variety of jobs until she settled in with Madison Kipp, where she worked for 33 plus years. She was a member of St. Ann's Parish, St. Ann's Choir, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She thoroughly enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives.
Alvina is survived by her children, Gail (Don) Beckwith, Greg (Judy) Johnson, Gloria (John) Harris, Geneva (Sam) Braun, Gerald Johnson, and Glenda (Tim) Kojo; grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, Valerie, Rory, Nick, Angie, Chris, Emily, Rachel, Ben, and Matt; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Larry (Peggy) Koster; sister, Stella (Jerome) Haiar; brother in-law, Ernest Jauert; sister in-law Darlene koster; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; son, Gary; brothers, Bernard and Marvin; and sister, Delores Jauert.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren St., with Father Randy Budnar presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Family and friends are invited to a meal following the service at church. Alvina will be laid to rest next to her husband at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the St. Ann's Endowment Fund.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Skaalen Home and Home Health United Hospice for their compassionate care they provided Alvina and her family.
