Amarjeet Kaur Karwal, age 67, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Agrace Hospice. She was born on June 3, 1954, in Katani Kalan, the daughter of Kishan Chand and Maya Devi Toriwal.
Her early life was spent in Katani Kalan, dist. Ludhiana, India. She married the love of her life, Sahib Singh Karwal on July 23, 1972. Together they raised 3 children and spent the first 25 years of their marriage in Mullanpur, Ludhiana where she opened her own Elementary School and managed it as a principal. In 1997, they moved to Madison, WI, USA where they made lifelong friends. She worked for the Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper for more than 20 years. This was her first and only job. She was hardworking and dedicated towards her job while fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her family. Her most memorable trips were Hawaii and Niagara Falls among other places such as London. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed for her hard work, sense of humor, and her warm caring personality.
Amarjeet is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sahib Singh Karwal; her children Lovkesh Karwal, Parvesh Verma, and Rakesh Karwal; her two daughters-in-law and son-in-law; and her grandchildren Lovjot, Pari, Kushjot, Heera, Noor, and Priya. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Sadhu Singh and Harnek Singh.
There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate Amarjeet’s life on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, followed by Kirtan, Antim Ardas and Guru ka Langar from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. CST., at Gurdwara Sahib, Madison, 6970 Century Avenue, Middleton, WI 53562. The memorial gathering will be live streamed.
