MADISON-Andrea Joy (Lindstrom) Oakland, age 34 passed away in the arms of her husband and parents on September 13 after her valiant battle with scleroderma. She was born in South Weymouth, MA, graduated from Eagan High School in Eagan, MN, got her BA from Lakeland College in Wisconsin. She married her beloved husband Alan on January 20, 2007. She was a member of the Scleroderma Foundation Support Group in Green Bay and was an advocate for patients and families who were impacted by this very difficult disease. She authored a children's book, My Mom's Special which described ways that children could help a loved one who has scleroderma.
She leaves behind her husband, Alan, her beloved cat, Eva, her mother and stepfather, Meredith and Mark Allister, her father and step mother Mark and Jodene Lindstrom, father-in-law and mother-in-law Dick and Lanea Oakland, her brother and sister in law Ross and Drew Lindstrom, her step sister Betsy Allister, two step brothers, Nat Allister and Michael McLaughlin, her grandmother, Harriette Lindstrom as well as many treasured cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Don and Pat Coole and her paternal grandfather, Paul Lindstrom
There are many broken hearts as this beautiful soul has left this life but the legacy she leaves us will be a source of inspiration forever.
Her life celebration will be held on Saturday, September 17 at the Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Ave, Madison, WI 53705. Flowers ARE welcome as well as memorial donations to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
