Andrew Morgan Ayres
May 17, 1981-October 31, 2013
Madison: Andy Ayres died peacefully at 3:05 PM, surrounded by many who love him. He fought a courageous battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia for more than three years.
Andy graduated from West High School in 2000. He was well-known at Madison's many music stores and area churches for his love of CDs. Andy loved "A Christmas Carol" so much that he has seen the stage play 25 times, and watched different versions at home too many times to count. Lunch at Milios or Silver Mine Subs always made his day. He filled the world with his love and his joy.
Andy is survived by his parents, Carole and Carter Morgan Ayres, his brother Christopher (Cynthia), nephew David Ayres, his aunts and uncles, Charles Briggs, Becky Briggs, Susan Briggs (Tom Finnessy), Charles Ayres Jr., and his cousins, Jennifer Ayres and Clara Buenzow. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Shirley & Neil Augenstein and by Barbara Morgan Ayres & Charles Lunsford Ayres, Sr., Andy's paternal grandparents, and by Thomas Boyd Ayres, Charles' and Carter's brother .
The family would like to thank REM-Wisconsin for the outstanding residential care that Andy has received for the past 12 years. To Cheryl Bailey, Terry Ronsman and Valentine Oluchi: you made it possible for Andy to live in his own home throughout his cancer experience; both Carter and Carole, and especially Andy, were especially grateful for this.
Thank you also to staff at Goodwill Industries for caring and thoughtful vocational support. To: Mary Jacobs and Janet Abitz: Andy loved being with you and the other staff as he went to work in the community.
Thanks also to the oncology staff at the Carbone Cancer Center. To Dr. Walter Longo, Beth, Dawn and all of Andy's other wonderful nurses: each and all of you together blessed Andy with an extra 3 years of quality life.
Andy's days at West High School were filled with opportunity and caring, thanks to Fred Swanson and his incredible staff: You gave Andy the ability to enjoy the community at large, and to add value to everyone whose life he touched.
The Great Dane and Allen Kitchen Bath have been wonderful employers and Andy always looked forward to working with Joe and Laree at Allen, and with Ted and his team at the Dane. Thank you to all of you at Agrace Hospice Care for helping Andy's last days to be peaceful.
