Angeline Payton

August 29, 1929 — November 4, 2009

Angeline (Angie) Rundell Payton passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2009 at the age of 80 after a brief illness.   Angie will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and caring towards others, her generosity and quick wit, and her love of animals.   Family was incredibly important to Angie and she was a constant source of love and support to her entire family.   She never failed to send cards to her children, grandchildren and extended family on every holiday and birthday.   She helped raise all of her grandchildren and enjoyed taking care of her two young grandsons even in her eightieth year.   She was just as thoughtful to friends and neighbors, and enjoyed a large circle of warm friendships as a result.   Angie was very active and involved in many activities in Madison such as Phi Beta Kappa, Mendota Yacht Club, Madison Curling Club, Softball, Tai Chi, and many Bridge Clubs. She always carried a deep compassion for all animals.   She had many pets over the years and never failed to feed the squirrels and birds in her own yard.   Angie graduated from Madison West High School and then received a Bachelors in English and Speech from the UW Madison. Angie chose to stay at home to spend more time with her 3 children, and loved children so much that she opened a successful in-home day care, which she ran for 40 years.   She was at the center of a large and loving family who will greatly miss her presence at holidays, family gatherings, and every day life.   She is survived by her 3 children Betsy (Dan) Duren, Nancy (Bill) Blue, and Jay (Emily Green) Payton, 6 grandchildren Abbey, Carley, Jenna, Callie, Cory and Ben and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther F and Florence Rundell, brother William F Rundell, and by her sister Mary Elisabeth Stewart who passed away 2 hours before her. Please join us for a celebra tion of her life on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 at Olbrich Gardens 3330 Atwood ave Madison, WI . from 4:30-7:30pm, with a brief program at 6pm. Donations in her name can be made to the Dane County Humane Society or HospiceCare Inc. of Madison, WI.
