Madison – Col. Angelo John “AJ” LaBarro, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 6, 2021 at Heritage Senior Living in Monona. AJ was born June 11, 1939 in Madison to the late Angelo and Pauline (Rindfleisch) LaBarro. He is a 1957 graduate of Madison East High School. While attending school AJ enjoyed playing rugby, playing guitar at the Brat & Brau, and he also was a teacher in Waunakee. Angelo joined the Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War, Grenada and Desert Storm with the Strategic Air Command. After the war, he graduated with a master’s degree in Iberian Studies from the UW Madison. He joined the Air Force Reserves and attended War College and worked in many capacities over the years with DIA, DSA and worked on Embassy’s around the world.
Angelo is survived by his sister Jacquelyn LaBarro of Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Susan Lee LaBarro.
A Celebration of Angelo’s life will be from 1:00 -3:00 on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison. Military Honors will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
