Anita Gruber

December 1, 1929 — June 1, 2015

Sun Prairie - Anita Odelia Gruber, age 85 passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Pine View Living.

She was born on December 1, 1929 in Bear Valley, the daughter of Anthony and Apollonia (Schmitz) Roessler. Anita was united in marriage to Cletus Gruber on April 14, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bear Valley, Wisconsin. Together they raised four children. In the late 60's, Anita achieved a dream of hers to own and operate the Chew and Chatter Restaurant in Waunakee. She enjoyed doing handy work, using the talents that God had given her. Anita was an extremely talented seamstress, making anything from wedding dresses to Barbie clothing and everything in-between. She also loved crocheting and knitting. Anita generously donated her crafts to the church bazaars and they deeply appreciated her for that. Anita was also known for her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was a master at canning, freezing and pie making. Every fall, Anita and Cubby looked forward to their annual fishing trip up north with her son, Jim.

Anita is survived by her three children; Kathy (Michael) Nordness, James Gruber and Deborah (Christopher Sneed) Gruber, three grandchildren; Jeff Ripp, Andrew Nordness and Alexander Nordness, a great grandson; Roberto Ripp, two sisters; Mary Ann Gruber and Veronica (Bob) Junion, a brother; Gilbert (Betty) Roessler, sisters-in-law; Janet Roessler, Arlene Louis,
Agatha (Leslie) Neefe, Ceila Gruber, Marietta Gruber, Caroline (Leslie) Mueller,
and Alice Roessler, son-in-law; Scott Mueller and his children, Adam Mueller and Sarah (Karl) Reynolds and a great niece; Harper Reynolds.

She is also survived by many other loving family and friends. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cletus, daughter Linda, two sisters; Irene (KY) Goodlett and Charlotte (John) Graham, brothers; Anthony Roessler and Charles Roessler, and a brother-in-law; Bill Gruber, "Gus" Augustine Louis, Raymond Gruber, Alois Gruber and Victor Gruber.
