Ann D. Nelson passed away on November 9, 2022, at the age of 85, at St. Mary's hospital of pneumonia. She was born on December 4, 1936, in Madison, to Theodore and Mabel (Gronlid) Iverson.
She graduated from Stoughton High School. After graduation she worked at M.G.& E. for 2yrs. In 1955 she married W. Dean Horner, they had two daughters Kristi and Lisa.
She worked at Stoughton Hospital for 33 yrs. She married Sidney Nelson in 1985, he passed away in 1995.
After she retired, she enjoyed traveling, going on cruises. Enjoyed her Kentucky Derby parties. She also loved spending time in her yard planting flowers and visiting with friends. One favorite trip was with her brother Merrill, and her niece Linda to Norway and spent time with a lot of relatives.
Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and those great-grandchildren were so special.
She was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church. Belonged to Elizabeth Circle, Alter Guild and enjoyed doing lefsa for the church lutefisk dinner.
She also belonged to Partners of Stoughton Hospital, VFW Auxiliary Post 328, Olbrich Gardens, served on Skaalen Retirement Services Inc. Board of Directors, and Friends of Stoughton Library.
She is survived by her daughters Kristi Wright and Lisa (Jeffrey) Alme, grandchildren Molly Wright and Karlee Wright, Sarah (Michael) Luedke, Brian (Leslie) Alme, Kelly (Joseph) Steinhofer. Great grandchildren Cashton and Carter Luedke, Edwin, Finlay, Jakob Alme, Ryker and Kaden Steinhofer. Nieces and nephews. Stepchildren Kathy Hegerfeld, Janet Nelson, Dale (Josette) Nelson. Step grandchildren Brandon Nelson, Rebecca Nelson, Sydney and Keaton Nelson. Step great-grandchildren Lucas Nelson, Ellie, Bella and Oliver Cabrera.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband Sidney Nelson, brothers Theodore, Merrill and Lloyd (Arlene) Iverson. Special friend William Eklund.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 13 from 1:00-3:00PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B in Stoughton. A memorial service will take place the following day, November 14 at 11:00AM at the church will a gathering one hour prior. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials can go to Christ Lutheran Church and Stoughton Hospital.
