Ann Gerretson Seybold, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023. She was born to Lowell and Grace Gerretson on December 31, 1934, in Madison, Wisconsin.
Ann graduated from Madison West High School in 1952, then attended Cornell College briefly before transferring to UW-Madison where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After earning her degree, she taught kindergarten in Neenah for two years then at Sauk Trail Elementary in Middleton.
In 1958 she married Frederick Seybold (Fritz). During their 64 loving years of marriage, they raised three children and supported each other while Fritz worked in the family business.
A true Madisonian, Ann spent her entire life in the capital city and was a dedicated contributor to the community. She volunteered for over 50 years in philanthropic organizations such as Attic Angels and PEO. Ann instilled her love of music in her family and never missed a performance by one of her grandsons. She gave her voice to the church choir for decades, where she and Fritz have been members since the early 1960s.
Ann was highly skilled in the needle arts, particularly counted cross-stitch and knitting. She honed her knitting skills over many years of attending Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitting Camp with her sister, Alicemay. Ann was an expert at puzzles/games, including Bridge and Mahjong. She and Fritz enjoyed traveling together, particularly to Door County with her sister and brother-in-law.
Ann was known for her devotion to her family (and her amazing chocolate chip cookies). Most of all, she delighted in the company of her family and was happiest when surrounded by them.
Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her devoted husband and her three children: Susan Kealy (Chris) of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, Bill (Jocelyn Aycrigg) of Genesee, Idaho and Laura of Madison. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons, Jackson and Will Kealy, her sister and brother-in-law, Alicemay and Ken Glover of Weaverville, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Ann will be held on April 15, 2023 at 10:00 am at Covenant Presbyterian Church (326 South Segoe Road, Madison) followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
