Ann Frances Simandl, age 70, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 13, 2010. Throughout her life Ann was an inspiration in courage and independence. Though physically challenged in many ways, she was always busy helping others and with her many interests. A devoted and active member of Grace Episcopal church, she loved serving her community through many volunteer activities, including Middleton Public Library and ushering at the Madison Civic Center. When her visual impairment prevented her from continuing, she found many ways to continue to give of herself. One of Ann's many passions was her extensive international doll collection which she enjoyed sharing with schools and doll club. Ann was an avid sports fan, especially of the Badgers and Brewers and could always be relied upon to know the standings and scores. She was an active participant in support groups for Low Vision and Epilepsy.  Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Frances W. Simandl and father, Charles J. Simandl. She is survived by her brothers, Robert (Kay) Simandl and Richard (Kathleen) Simandl, and sister Linda Hein (Tom Gross), her nephew Nathan Hein and niece Rebecca Hein.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. Visitation will be at Grace Episcopal Church, 116 W Washington Ave, Monday, May 17 at 10 a.m. with a service at 11, followed by burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
