Madison lost one of its kindest, most elegant citizens Friday. Ann Koch Vincent passed away at 6 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Capitol Lakes. Ann is survived by her four sons and their families, Jim (Carole) sons Kerwin and Torrance; Tom (Laura) and son Edward; David (Michele) and children Erich, Tara, Brooke and Blake; Richard and daughters Trisan and Shauna and two great grandsons Soljin and Christopher. She is also survived by her sister Mary and nephews and nieces and their families. She was preceded in death ten months ago by the love of her life, Jim Vincent Sr., her husband of sixty-five years. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Jean, and a brother Bill.
Ann was born on March 22, 1920, in Osceola, WI, to Oswald and Grace (Gavin) Koch. Her family moved to Madison when she was a young girl and she graduated from Madison West High School in 1938. She attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she was featured as a Badger Beauty in 1940 and was a member of the Tri Delts Sorority. After her marriage she worked as a nutritionist at the University of Chicago while Jim completed his service obligations in the U.S.Navy. They returned to Madison where Ann raised her four children. Ann was a loving and supportive mother and helped out frequently in her children's schools and activities. She was and enthusiastic member of her Chapter BLPEO Sisterhood.
Ann and Jim enjoyed extensive travels including trips to Europe, Mexico, the Orient, Australia, New Zealand and throughout the United States. She took pleasure in golfing, bowling, and playing cards. When she became a grandmother, Ann really loved spending time with her grandchildren and she was cherished by all of them. Ann and Jim would get all four sons and their families together for vacations with them and, as a result, the grandchildren are all close friends though they live many miles apart.
Her family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Capitol Lakes for taking such fine care of her in her final months.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Visitation will be one hour prior. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Media Ministry or Hospice Care.
