Anna Winters

Madison - Anna Mae Winters, age 96 passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014. She was born on May 10, 1918 in Mazeppa, Minnesota, the daughter of Alfred and Bessie Hook. Anna was a retired State of Wisconsin employee; early in her life she worked at the old University of Wisconsin Children's Hospital and retired from Central Colony caring for disabled children.
Mom was an avid reader - newspaper every day and because she loved Wisconsin History, she would always look for the "Odd Wisconsin" section first. She easily read a book a week, as well as other material that caught her eye. Anna thoroughly enjoyed playing scrabble. She loved animals, especially watching squirrels and feeding birds on her deck. Even on the coldest days, she made sure that they had plenty of food and water to drink.
Anna is survived by four children; Wallis (David) Roberts of Fitchburg, Grace (Don) Brockmann of Arena, Joyce King of Baraboo and J.Robin Fillion of Ladysmith. She is further survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings; Miles, Earl and Nelva Hook, as well as her three husbands; F.J. Fillion, Harold Warner and Laudie Winters, five children; Caryl Lynn Keller, Ruthann Swenson, Patricia Lee Fillion, Cheryl Christine Harris and Benjamin Fillion.Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, December 20, 2015 at 11:00 am with Reverend Michael Weiss officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Anna's loving neighbors, who watched over her often and to the Doctors and staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Agrace Hospicecare for their wonderful care.
