Anne Gubner

MADISON- Anne Elizabeth (Klett) Gubner, age 81, died on January 6, 2014 at her home. She was born November 6, 1932 in Johnson City, New York to Herman and Florence (Lewis) Klett. She graduated from Johnson City High School in 1951 and received her B.A. degree from Harpur College of Binghamton University, Binghamton, N.Y. She was a biochemist in the research division of the former Norwich Pharmacal Company, Norwich, N.Y. prior to her marriage to Elmer "Al" Gubner in Silver Spring, MD, October 18, 1958. They lived in Washington, DC and New Carrollton, MD for thirty years. Their son, John, was born and grew up there. They retired to Walton, NY in 1988 and then to Madison in 2000. Anne was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, loved classical music and enjoyed playing the piano. Travel was always a special pleasure. She is survived by her husband "Al", and their son John (Susan) Gubner of Madison, and step-grandson Joseph Ahrens. She is also survived by her sister Norma Jean (Klett) Cucciarre, a nephew David (Lori) Cucciarre and a niece Nancy (Michael) Cucciarre-Stuligross, all of Walton, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Madison Christian Community Building Fund, 7118 Old Sauk Rd, Madison, WI 53717, Church World Service, P.O. box 968, Elkhart, IN 46515, or to the charity of your choice.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 10, 2014 at ADVENT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7118 OLD SAUK ROAD, MADISON, WI 53717, with Rev. Jeff Wild presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
