Anne Layton, age 92, died on Friday, February 12, 2010.   Anne was born on February 8, 1918 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to loving parents, Isaac and Clara Cohen.  After graduating from Washington High School, Anne worked as a bookkeeper for a wholesale meat business.  Anne met and married the love of her life, Charles Layton; together they established a warm and welcoming home and raised two children in the city of Madison.  Anne and Charles had a long and loving marriage of 49 years.   Anne worked with her husband in his Middleton-based home improvement company until their retirement.   They were active members of Beth Israel's Congregation for many years.   Anne especially enjoyed cooking for family and friends, taking family vacations, playing the piano, playing duplicate bridge and, later in life, attending outings for senior citizens.    Anne will be remembered for her cheerful nature and warm and caring heart.   Her family was always her priority, and she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.   Anne was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother and a sister.   She is survived by a daughter, Corinne Layton, and son-in-law, Robert Houston of San Diego, California; a son, Martin Layton, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ashley of Los Angeles, California; and two grandchildren, Rachael Ashley-Layton and Brian Houston.   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 6021 University Avenue in Madison.   Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.   Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
