MADISON - Jessie Ruth Anne (Anne) Wilson, age 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Anne was born on June 9, 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to William and Ruth (Snyder) Armstrong. She graduated from the University of Oregon where she met and married her husband Bill in 1953. They moved to Madison in 1959, where they raised their three girls and she studied Interiors at the University of Wisconsin. She went on to work in the field of interiors, opening the doors to Anne Wilson Interior Design in 1978. In addition Anne taught knitting and needlepoint at the Knitting Tree and interior design at the Madison Area Technical College. She was also a member of the Madison Knitters Guild.
The brilliant, funny, complex woman we knew was gone long before her body gave up, stolen away by Alzheimer's disease, but she had already given her family and friends many gifts, intangible gifts, gifts of the heart.
Anne is survived by her husband Bill, daughters Jennifer Wilson-Pines (Jamie, daughters Lela and Lian), Gillian Lindahl (Juan Martinez, son Oscar Lindahl), Carrie Williams (son Jason, daughter-in-law Erika, grandchildren Eva and JJ), sister Nancy Kachur, brother Bill Armstrong, sister-in-law Mary O'Leary, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jean Campbell and her nephews, Donald and Robert Campbell.
Anne's family wishes to thank the staff of Clare Bridge Memory Care for their exceptional care and concern over the past year.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 21, 2015 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road. Light refreshments will follow the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Anne's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
