Madison - Anthony J. "Tony" Schiavo, age 68, died peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tony was born August 6, 1943 in Madison, the son of James and Marian Amato Schiavo. He graduated from Madison East High School. He married Rose Marie Fucarino on December 6, 1965 in Milwaukee. Tony and Rose Marie's "chance meeting" occurred through the providence of two foresighted fathers.
As a Madison restauranteur, Tony made people feel warm and welcomed for over 56 years. Tony assured that any occasion became The occasion, and he "treated everybody the same, from top to bottom, left to right". He was part of what is the fabric and family of Madison.
Tony was a Free Mason and member of Scottish Rite, York Rite and Zor Shrine. He was also a proud member of La Societa di San Giuseppe, in Milwaukee.
Tony is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; his sons, James (Jennifer) and Nicholas (Stephanie); and his beloved granddaughters, Nicole and Cecelia Rose.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Drs. Lubner and Cho and the staff at Carbone Cancer Center and Dr. Rock and staff at Agrace HospiceCare. Memorials in Tony's name may be gifted to UW Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace HospiceCare.
In accordance with Tony's wishes, no formal services will be held.
