Arlene Chaussee

Sun Prairie - Arlene Chaussee (Kruse) passed away peacefully at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center on August 5, 2017. Arlene was born on January 4, 1931 in Madison, WI, the only child of William and Mabel (Bork) Kruse. She graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1948. She then graduated from Wisconsin State College in Milwaukee with a Bachelor's Degree in Exceptional Education (Mentally Handicapped) in 1952. She was united in marriage to Howard Chaussee on August 22, 1953. Arlene was a school teacher for 31 years and taught students with learning disabilities in Racine, Sun Prairie, Waunakee, and Marshall Schools.
Arlene was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was very active in many organizations such as Treasurer of Council for Exceptional Children, President of Sun Prairie Business and Professional Women, Treasurer of Stoughton Retired Educators and was member on the board for The Crosse House in Sun Prairie. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. After retiring she enjoyed playing cards and was involved with several bridge clubs. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, but her favorite was sewing and quilting. Arlene loved to sew clothes for her children and grandchildren. She quilted many beautiful items including quilts for each of her children.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Kruse; daughter Mary Ann Carty; granddaughter Megan Benda; and son-in-law Mark Johnson.
She is survived by her husband Howie; children Sandee Johnson of Middleton, Wes (Patti) Chaussee of Montello, Chris (Roxanne) of Mississippi, Beth (Kevin) Regan of Waterloo, Lora (Gary) Stock of Sun Prairie, Bill (Beth) Chaussee of Sun Prairie, Son-in-Law Mike Carty of Sun Prairie, Howie (Vicki) Chaussee of Sun Prairie, and Amy (Don) Benda of Sun Prairie; 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, with Pastor Tim Hansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Per Arlene's wishes and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Crosse House of Sun Prairie, Special Olympics of WI, or the Bethesda Lutheran Home and Services.
