Arturo “Arthur” Angelo Fazio

Arturo “Arthur” Angelo Fazio, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, left this earth on March 17, 2024 at Waunakee Valley Senior Living, at the age of 95. Arthur was born in Rockford, Illinois on October 9, 1928, the son of Peter and Lena (Giacalone) Fazio.

After high school, Arthur was excited to begin his military service to our country. Because he was not yet of age,  his mother had to sign papers so he could enlist. Arthur was very proud of his service, received an honorable discharge, and went on to enjoy many Veteran’s Day celebrations with his fellow veterans.   Arthur met Phyllis Cardinal in 1947 and they married in 1953. They raised their five children in Freeport, Illinois before Art and Phyllis relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. They spent several years in the Southwest before returning to Freeport, where they lived until Phyllis’ passing. In 2015, Arthur moved to Waunakee where he enjoyed life at the Manor, made many good friends, and celebrated birthdays and holidays with his family. 

Arthur is survived by three sons, Edward (Sara) of Hannibal, MO, Mark (Jane) of Waunakee, WI, and Greg of Freeport; two daughters, Kathy Pflaume of Freeport, IL and Luann Briggs of Phoenix, AZ.  He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Marguerite (Steve) Rohde.   Arthur has ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and twin daughters who died at birth. 

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday June 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home
