Arvid H Rortvedt

Sun Prairie- Arvid H. Rortvedt, age 71, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Meriter Hospital, Madison. He was born on August 20, 1937 in Madison the son of Oscar & Eleanor (Klatt) Rortvedt, Sr. Arvid was united in marriage to Judy Davison on August 26, 1961 in Sun Prairie, WI. He was a lifelong resident of the Madison area. He graduated from DeForest High School, Class of 1957. Mr. Rortvedt was employed as a welder with Madison Pipe & Concrete and also was owner/operator of a semi-truck. He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie. Arvid was an avid reader, hunter and painter who especially enjoyed working on ceramics. Although he was confined to a wheelchair after an accident in 1979 he still enjoyed these activities and was considered quite a marksman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy of Sun Prairie; his sons, David Rortvedt, Madison, Steve Rortvedt, St. Peters, MO and Jeff (Kelli) Rortvedt, Marshall; his grandchildren, Allison & Ryan; mother, Eleanor Rortvedt, Sun Prairie; sister, Janice Rortvedt, Sun Prairie; brother, Oscar (Judy) Rortvedt, Jr, Sun Prairie; Mother-in-law, Doris Davison, Sun Prairie; brother-in-law, Jack (Mary) Davison, Sun Prairie; sister-in-law, Laurel Wilson, Winthrop Harbor, IL; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law, Herbert Davison. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor St., Sun Prairie, with Rev. Luke Werre. Burial will be held in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Friends are invited to call on the family on Tuesday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie.
