Audrey Hein

Sun Prairie - Audrey Marian Hein, age 92 passed away at Agrace Hospice on Friday, June 10, 2016. She was born in Madison on August 22, 1923, the daughter of Ernest and Leanitae Hillenbrand.
Audrey graduated from Sun Prairie High School. She attended Edgewood College, Ripon College and Mrs.Dodge Secretarial School in Milwaukee. On October 18, 1943, Audrey was united in marriage to John Hein. Together they lived in Corpus Christie, TX, and Atlanta, GA while John was doing Naval Aviation Instrument Flight Instruction training. Following training, she returned to Sun Prairie while John was stationed in the Pacific Theater flying to Naval Air Stations. Together Audrey and John owned and operated Hillenbrand's Men's Clothing and Family Shoe Store. Over the years, Audrey volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital and the Sun Prairie Public Library. She was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. Audrey enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Lake Wisconsin and wintering at their home in Mesa, Arizona. Her interests included playing bridge, shopping, decorating her home, reading, doing crafts, attending dinner dances. and traveling the United States, Europe, North Africa and Asia.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 72 years; John Hein, two daughters; Wendy (Tom) Ostlund of Onalaska, WI and Jody (Tim) Ekern of Waterloo, WI, her son Robert Hein of Madison, two grandchildren; John (Kate) Ostlund of Hopkins, MN and Mike (Erin) Ostlund of St. Louis Park, MN, four great-grandchildren; Henry and Julia Ostlund and Nora and Ellie Ostlund.
Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 11:00 am with Monsignor Terrance Connors presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, from 10:00 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Audrey to Sun Prairie EMS, 2598 West Main Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 or the Sun Prairie Public Library,1350 Linnerud Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590
