Audrey Roth

July 30, 1924 — March 26, 2010

Audrey (Jacobson) Roth, age 85, died on March 26,2010 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Lodi, WI where she resided for the past three years. She loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed by them: her husband James; her children Jennifer, Cynthia (Anita), James, Jr (LouAnn) and John (Shelly); her grandchildren Travis Lord (Jewell), Livia Wiemann (Sean), Matthew, Emily, Merri Ellen, Kristina, Michelle; and her five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Evelyn and Jack Jacobsen of Milwaukee, her daughter Victoria Lord, her son Joseph who died at birth, and her grandchild Tori.   Audrey had a big heart, a smile for everyone and a song for every occasion. Oh, the songs she knew, and all the lyrics, too! Even in her last difficult days, her breathing mechanically assisted, she sang with those around her. Her good cheer and words of wisdom (""progress, not perfection"") helped countless others, including friends in Alanon, live more peacefully and joyfully. Audrey was a writer. She earned her BA in Journalism from UW-Madison in 1946. She wrote for various publications, including The Lodi Enterprise, where her weekly column ""Conversations"" appeared for fifteen years. She never missed a deadline. Through her work, she was connected to hundreds of people in the Lodi community, many of whom remember her to this day. In addition to music and writing, she was passionate about reading and about listening to WI Public Radio. She loved her home on Lake Wisconsin, the cottage she helped her parents build back in 1942. She enjoyed sitting on the pier with Jim and other members of her family, watching the sun set. Funeral services will be held on Tues March 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St Patrick's Catholic Church 521 Fair St Lodi. Rev Francisco Higuera will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Tues from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. A memorial will be established at a later date by the family. The Roth family expresses deep appreciation to everyone at Good Samaritan who gave   Audrey loving care and made her feel at home.
