August D. Bjugstad

STOUGHTON – August D Bjugstad passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28,2024 at Home. He was born December 20,1942 in Stoughton, WI to the late Oscar and Louise Bjugstad. He obtained his GED after leaving school to work on the family farm.

He met his future wife, Judith while attending a dance at Turner Hall. They were later married on March 21,1964. They have two daughters, Kristine (Jeremy) Annen and Marci (Jason) Simonis; 6 grandchildren Ariel (Xavarus), Tyler-Serie (Dom), Christian, Alexander, Cecilia and Gabriel Grefsheim; 5 great grandchildren Genevieve, Emma, Charlotte, Xaurora, and Xelenia for whom he loved dearly. August is survived by his brother Oscar Jr (Norma) Bjugstad, sister Yvonne Walheim, brothers- in-law Norman Walmer and Fred Lichte and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judith, his parents Oscar and Louise Bjugstad, parents in law Erwin (Erma) Lichte, brother Duane (Nancy) Bjugstad, Sister Elaine Walmer, nephew Chad Walmer, sister in laws Julie Lichte, Sherrol Lichte, and Helen (David) Nelson.

He worked at Uniroyal Engineered Products, hauled milk and later owned/operated Bjugstad Trucking with his brother (Oscar) and father. He later went on to work for and retired from Stoughton Trucking. He drove semi for 48 years! 

August also served in the Airforce and Air National Guard when he and Judith were first married. He enjoyed time with his family and friends as well as trips to Vegas with Judith when they could. 

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 7, 2025, at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County HWY B Stoughton with Rev Paula Geister-Jones presiding. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery South. Friends and relatives are invited to the luncheon reception at the Stoughton VFW Post. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday January 6, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W Prospect St Stoughton, and also from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
