MADISON – Austin Ambrose Healey, Jr., age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Wickshire Senior Living in Madison. Austin was born in Dubuque, IA on February 24, 1929, to Austin and Cyrena (Krabbenhoft) Healey. Austin graduated from Central High School in Davenport, IA. He also attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He was united in marriage to Marilyn E. Wright on June 18, 1950 and they celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. They shared 75 years of bliss having dated for 5 years before they were wed.

He was employed with Oscar Mayer as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) for 36 years. He was instrumental in establishing the Marketing Services Group and the development of major systems for invoicing and trade promotions, working his way up to the Corporate Office. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Madison.

Austin loved spending time with his family, and especially traveling with his wife, Marilyn. Music was always playing in their home and Austin passed his love of music on to his children. He was a pilot who enjoyed flying and taking his family for plane rides. As a member of Capitol City Flyers, he served as their accountant for many years. He had a fascination for cars and enjoyed car shows, sometimes seeking out Austin Healey cars that were on display. Austin had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all.

Austin is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn; their 5 children, Mark (Amy Corbecky) Healey, Sheryl (Mark McNamee) Richards, Sheryn Healey, Candice (Dave) Rowe, and Kathy Healey. They also have 9 grandchildren; Savannah (Eric Geiger) Healey, Austin Healey, Lindsey Richards, Michelle (Kevin) Pertzborn, Braylee (Julie Ann) Brabender, Tracy (Isaiah) Joyner, Adam Rowe, Alex (Ashley) Burkeland, and Becki Burkeland, thirteen great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Max, Taylor, Haylee, Evan, Josselyn, Ayla, Vince, Finn, Damian, AJ, Kaleel and Nolan, and one great-great-grandchild, Liam. He was a loving and devoted husband, who cared deeply for his children, and their children, across all the generations. He was known to all as an exceptionally kind and gentle man. He will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heartland Hospice and staff at Wickshire Senior Living for their compassionate care.
