Bandulasena Jayawickrema

Bandulasena Jayawickrema, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the University Hospital in Madison. He was born in Sri Lanka on December 27, 1943, the son of John Appuhami Jayawickrema and Alice Dias Siriwardana Samaraweera. Bandulasena worked as a Postmaster in Sri Lanka. He and his beloved wife, Hemalatha, came to the United States in 2003.

Bandulasena is survived by his wife, Hemalatha A Munasinghe; daughter, Nilmi (Rob) Bartle and their children, Hansi and Risandi Bartle; son, Kethaka (Sumudu) Jayawickrema and their children, Hansaja, Senuja, Vinuja and Lisari Jayawickrema; son-Amal Bandula (Dilrukshi) Jayawickrema and their children, Seha and Nethuki Jayawicrema.

In accordance with his wishes, we donated his body to UW medical students. We are holding an almsgiving ceremony this Sunday, 11/24/2024, and my family and I would like to invite you to join us in remembrance of him and participate in this ceremony 11.30am Onwards, 4648 Schneider Drive, Oregon, WI. PS: The medical college rejected his body due to Aspirational Pneumonia, so we are creating my dad and taking his ashes to Sri Lanka at some point and having a funeral there. The family will be collecting memorials to donate wheelchairs and walkers to individuals who need them in Sri Lanka.
