Barbara Krebs

MADISON – Barbara Jean Krebs, passed away on 10/02/2022. She was born on 08/10/1951 in Portage WI to Charles (Chuck) Bortz and Juanita Bortz. Barb grew up in Portage and then moved to Sun Prairie WI where she worked for GTE, which later was bought by Verizon for over 35 years until she retired. She was a supervisor there and made many life-long friendships. She always kept her house meticulously clean and welcomed everyone warmly that came to her home. She was very proud of buying her home, as she was a single mom raising two young men. Her favorite hobbies were reading, cooking out with friends and family, and vacationing. She loved to go out to dinner at Brothers Three for prime rib with her hubby Jim and you could find them most weekends at Toots Tap. Her absolute favorite hobby was golfing, and her constantly tanned body showed it. Her and Jim had memberships at the Sun Prairie Golf Course and liked to go to Florida to golf. She passed that passion on to her son Todd and his son Brennan. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Brennan Bescup, Brooke Bescup, and Jackson Bescup. She loved to go cheer them on at their basketball, hockey, soccer, football and baseball games and dance recitals. Barb was a strong woman, known for her spunk and her infectious laugh. She faced many challenges in life and continued on with a great attitude and perseverance. Always taking care of everyone around her.

Barb is survived by her husband, James Krebs, son Todd Bescup (Elaine), her three grandchildren, step-father Ken Rozinski, brother and sister in laws, Tony and Lynn Krebs, Dave Krebs, Tom and Julie Krebs, and nieces and nephews, and also her brothers Tim and Terry Bortz.

Barb was preceded in death by her father Charles, and mother Juanita Rozinski (Bortz), sons Joel Bescup and Chad Bescup, granddaughter Lindsay Bescup, and mother and father in law (Bette and Lloyd Krebs), brother in law Pete Krebs and close friends Jan Chase, Cindy Weisensel and Linda Van Wie.

As per the family’s wishes, there will be a private ceremony held at a later date. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
