Barbara Mcintyre

SUN PRAIRIE - Barbara L. McIntyre, age 91, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. She was born May 28, 1926, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry O. and Edna C. (Lindauer) Jaastad. She married the love of her life, Donald J. McIntyre September 4, 1948, in Eau Claire and celebrated 63 years together.

As valedictorian of Eau Claire Memorial High School, she went on to school at the University of Wisconsin where she graduated with a BS degree in Economics in 1947. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and remained a proud Badger fan. She raised her family in Fond Du Lac until 1966 when a job transfer brought the family to Sun Prairie. Barbara dedicated herself to raising her children and delighted in their accomplishments in school, athletics, and music. She found time for her passions including playing bridge with her dear friends, gardening, reading, needlework of all kinds especially knitting. When the children were grown, she became a co-owner of Prairie Junction LLC on Main Street. Barbara and Donald enjoyed their lake home "Up North" in Wisconsin, and when retirement came, they moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they enjoyed 17 more years together. Barbara returned to Sun Prairie and happily resumed family activities in these last years.

She is survived by her six children, Kathryn (Donald) Mezei, Andrew (Paula) McIntyre, Jeffrey (Sue), Ann (Dave) Brown, Robert (Ann), Douglas (Stephanie), twenty-one cherished grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Henry, and her husband.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 12:00 noon with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin at a later date.
