Barbara Mott

August 22, 1937 — June 24, 2021

Barbara J. Mott, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born August 22, 1937, in Sauk City, WI, the eldest daughter to Harold and Ileen (Gabel) Meyers.

Barb grew up in the Middleton area, graduating from Middleton High School in 1957. Barb was united in marriage with Roger Mott on April 5, 1969. Barb worked in retail and her favorite jobs were working at fabric/craft stores. Barb loved to crochet, sew and bake. She made hats for newborns at a Madison hospital, colorful blankets for anyone who wanted one and lap blankets for nursing home residents. She also hand sewed blankets for rescue dogs and cats later in life. When she was able to bake, before her eyesight went bad, she would order every cookbook or magazine that had a “yummy” recipe in it to try out that sweet treat. It’s truly hard to know if she had a bigger sweet (chocolate) tooth or a bigger heart of gold for helping children. She donated food to area food banks; purchased hundreds of books for area elementary schools so each child would have a book to read over the summer; and many, many other local organizations that supported children and families.

Barb is survived by her brothers-in-law, Clem Schwartz (WI) and John (Sheila) Werla (FL). She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends (good friend Lois). She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Sally Schwartz and Denise Werla, and her husband.

An outdoor Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at her niece, Kathleen’s house. A prayer and readings will be held at 11:15 with a light lunch to follow. Please bring your own lawn chair.
