Barbara Zimbric

February 11, 1949 — March 27, 2016

Waunakee - Barbara A. (Powers) Zimbric, age 67, passed away Easter Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital after a 6 month valiant battle with an illness. She was born on Feb. 11, 1949 in Beaver Dam, the daughter of the late Adrian and Marcella Powers. She graduated from Columbus High School and furthered her education and graduated from beauty school. She was united in marriage to Jon Zimbric in 1992. She was a 25+ year employee of the State of Wisconsin, working at Central Colony as a residential caregiver.

Barb was a proud Irishwoman with a flair for fashion. She had huge beautiful eyes and a hearty laugh. She and Jon enjoyed the hunt for antiques at flea markets and resale stores. Together they created a unique dcor in their home from treasures found. Their cabin in Phillips, WI was a favorite retreat. Hosting large family holidays was a joy for her. She was true and loyal to friends and family and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her husband Jon, his children; Fred (Jill), James (Tammy) and their children Mason and Jake; siblings Adrian Jr. (Jane) Powers, Marie (Gary) Walter and Colleen (Shary) Powers-Adams, in-laws; Donna (Ken) Stiemke, Jerry (Hazel) Zimbric, Carrie (Stan) Statz, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins by her dear friend, Jan Gerhardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Brian and Stephen and his wife Judy, and her in-laws, Gilbert and Lucille Zimbric.

Her membership at St. John's Catholic Church was important. We thank Monsignor Gunn and the Eucharistic ministry for visits, conversation and friendship. The family would also like to thank St. Mary's Hospital, Select Hospital and Home Health United for their compassionate care.

Family and friends may visit at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St, Waunakee on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of The Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Barbara will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery.

Barbara was a woman of fierce determination and strength as she battled multiple illnesses. She earned her wings and will forever soar, finally pain free. We love you Barb.
