MADISON – Beatrice Frisby Dewey of Madison, WI passed away at Agrace Hospice on Saturday, July 31st. She was born on August 8, 1936, in Rochester, NY to Floyd and Dorothy Frisby. She was predeceased by her daughter Rev. Elizabeth and her sister Jean. She is survived by her husband Gene Dewey; her daughter Janet (Jeffrey) of Kanata, Ontario, Canada; her son David (Laura) of Fitchburg, WI, and grandchildren Sarah and John.
Bea graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo in Early Childhood Education. She started her career teaching in schools, moving into childcare and later into piano teaching. Always active, she held various board and committee positions for many community organizations. She became an Honorary Lifetime Member of MAME (Madison Area Music Educators).
Bea’s love of young children and music was evident in many of her activities. Bea engaged children and adults alike making music with the piano, choirs, handbells, the recorder, pots and pans, a harmonica, drinking glasses, and anything else she could get her hands on. Other favorite activities were camping, concerts, hosting international visitors, and traveling. She was an active member of First Baptist Church.
