Benjamin "Ben" Howell-Little

Benjamin Howell-Little, age 35, passed away October 11, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Madison on March 24, 1988 the son of Meg Little and Timothy Howell. 

Ben was a very unique soul evident from a very early age who was bright and sensitive with a passion for anything computer related, and art with glass fusion or unique colorful marker designs.  When he smiled the sun came out.  He was a gentle soul who could be loyal beyond any usual expectations but also seemed to need to create turning points in his life, not always well understood by others.  Ben had what the family came to call a genuinometer that enabled him to detect whether others were acting from their core, or putting on fronts.  Those who knew him well found this an endearing quality.  Ben was one who was forgiving and not inclined to hold grudges or negativity.  He cared deeply about the people in his life, but at times he drifted away from his loved ones in his struggle to re-find zest and direction.  As a psychiatric nurse he focused greatly on advocacy for patients in a way that sometimes made waves with the rest of the staff.  He struggled with some demons and worked in his unique way to overcome them- very keen on his autonomy that he always find his own path.  He will be greatly missed by those friends and family who were blessed to know him. 

Ben is survived by his parents, Meg Little and Timothy Howell, two sisters Elisabeth Howell- Little and Emily Howell-Little and her spouse Josh Christiansen and their two daughters Maia Mae and Margot Esme,  and one brother, Christopher Howell-Little and his wife Fei Li Kuang and their two sons Felix and Theodore.  He was preceded by his grandparents. 

A memorial celebration of life will be held for close friends and family in May 2024.
