Benjamin ""Ben"" Williams Jr.

October 11, 1919 — July 3, 2011

Sunday, June 3, 2011, Benjamin Williams Jr., age 91 was called home with his family by his side.

Ben was born October 11, 1919 in Paris Island, South Carolina to Joseph and Lula Brookins. His parents were both full time Share Croppers. Ben spent much of his young life working with his family ShareCropping. At age 14, he left home to find his fortune in Bellglades, Florida After some time he relocated to Americus Georgia. It was there that he met and married his wife, Amanda Mae (Henderson) Williams. They spent 42 glorious years together before her demise in December of 1987.
Ben and Amanda started their family in Americus, GA with their first born daughter Phebbie Rudd-Crawford and then followed by their second Rosetta Williams. After migrating north to Madison, WI, their son, Edwin ""Eugene"" Williams was the final addition to the family.
While in Madison, Ben enjoyed 32 years of employment at Oscar Mayer, 16 years with the YMCA, not to mention years of service with Schoeppe Pontiac and the University of WI. In his spare time, he enjoyed the dog races, playing cards and watching the WWF. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and was a Mason with the Masonic Temple.
Ben is survived by his daughter Rosetta, son Eugene, Grandchildren Mark, Michael, Migel, Stacy, Amandrian Nicole (Maurice) Alford, Tim, Tianna, Ileia. Great Grandchildren Janee`, Jurell, Amanda, Marquita, Ahmauri, Tanisha, Toren, Micah, Tyrese, Toren, Tahja, Dell, Devin, Bishop , Lydia,Aubriel and Great-great grandchildren Gabrielle, Dre`jean, Dae`vion, and Jaxson. He is further survived by many friends and family members. A special thanks to family friends Julie Lynch, Ally Trillet and Kanu Iheukumere.
He was preceded in death by his wife Amanda and daughter Phebbie along with a host of brothers and sisters. Carolina to Joseph and Lula Brookins. Ben spent much of his young life working with his family ShareCropping. At age 14, he left home to find his fortune in Bellglades, Florida. After some time he relocated to Americus, Georgia. It was there that he met and married his wife of 42 years, Amanda Mae (Henderson) Williams. Ben and Amanda started their family in Americus, Georgia with their first born daughter Phebbie Rudd-Crawford and then followed by their second Rosetta Williams. After migrating north to Madison, WIsconsin, their son, Edwin ""Eugene"" Williams was the final addition to the family.

While in Madison, Ben enjoyed 32 years of employment at Oscar Mayer, 16 years with the YMCA, not to mention years of service with Schoeppe Pontiac and the University of WI. In his spare time, he held membership at Second Baptist Church, attended dog races, enjoyed playing cards and watching the WWF.

Ben is survived by his daughter Rosetta and son Eugene. Grandchildren Mark, Michael, Migel, Stacy, Amandrian Nicole (Maurice) Alford, Tim, Tianna, and Ileia. Great Grandchildren Janee`, Jurell, Amanda, Marquita, Ahmauri, Tanisha, Toren, Micah, Tyrese, Tahja, Dell, Devin, Bishop, Lydia, and Aubriel. Great-Great grandchildren Gabriella, Dre`Jean, Dae`Vion, and Jaxson. He also took pride in his extended family of Edith Hilliard and her family. He is further survived by many friends and family members.

A special thank you to family friends Julie Lynch, Ally Trillet, Katrina Lemon, Anne Mason, and Kanu Iheukumere.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife Amanda, his daughter Phebbie, his parents, and sisters Mattie Lou Jenkins, and Benzine Moore.

A memorial celebration of Ben's life will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 11, 2011 at St. Marks Lutheran / Faith Community Baptist Church, 605 Spruce St, Madison, WI 53715.
