Cottage Grove- Bertha Schlueter, age 98, of Cottage Grove, passed away on April 6, 2012. She was born in New Glarus on March 1, 1914, the daughter of John and Katherine (Mutzner) Jaggi. Bertha married Marvin Schlueter in 1935 and moved to the Schlueter farm near Cottage Grove, where she lived for the next 70 years. Bertha worked on the family farm most of her life. She also worked at Maple Bluff Country Club for over 30 years, retiring at age 80. Survivors include her sons, William (Shirley) of Frisco, TX, Mel (Maggie Hart) of Cottage Grove and Del (Linda) of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Monte Schara of Wylie, TX, Pamela Schlueter of Plano, TX, Matt (Beth) Schlueter of Dodgeville and Sara Schlueter of Omaha, NE; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Katherine (Kay) Searles of Brodhead; and her sisters-in-law, Eva Jaggi and Shirley Jaggi. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; a daughter, Wilma Schara; her brothers, Adolph, Melvin, and Edwin Jaggi; and a brother-in-law, Robert Searles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3702 County Highway AB, Cottage Grove, with Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church on Monday. Memorials may be given in Bertha's name to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711, or to a charity of your choice.
