Bette Bobeck

November 17, 1928 — September 4, 2023

Waunakee

Bette Bobeck passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 at Home Again Assisted Living in Waunakee surrounded by loved ones.

Bette was born on November 17, 1928 in Dodgeville (“a good place to be from”) to Jim and Lucy Clayton.  She was the eldest of the three daughters and demonstrated early in life that she was very responsible and caring as she helped in many ways around the home and with her sisters.  She graduated from DHS in 1946 and moved to Madison a few years later.  She began her work career in Madison at Dane County Title Company where she completed abstract searches for properties.

Bette met her future husband, Herb at Devil’s Lake in 1951, married in 1955 and blessed with over 50 years together.  She was a devoted wife and mother to their four children, Jim, Sue (Ed), Dave, and Steve (Kim) and grand-mother to Brandon, Andrew, Wren and Ben.  She was the rock of the family, always providing love and support unconditionally.

Bette returned to work part-time when the “kids” were older at Laborer’s Hall Local 464 and later returned full-time again at Dane County Title Company, retiring in 1990.

Mom loved to garden and was well known for her beautiful flowers.  In retirement, she and dad enjoyed traveling which included trips to Florida, Colorado, Up North, London, Paris and an Alaskan cruise.  Mom enjoyed reading her murder mysteries, Sudoku, loved a good Scrabble or Euchre game.  She loved cheering on the Badgers and Packers.

She is survived by her children and grand-children as well as two nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters (Shirley and Judy) as well as her sister-in-law and two brother-in-laws.

The family would like to thank Home Again Assisted Living for the wonderful care and support you provided our mom for the past 5 years.  It warmed our hearts to see so many express genuine love and care to our mom.  We thank Agrace Hospice for the extra care the past couple of months.  Pastor Nancy Childress’ visits were comforting to mom during her journey to heaven.

Funeral services will be held at the  Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5784 Hwy Q  Waunakee on Tuesday, September 12th  at 11am with visitation beginning at 9:30. A private family burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.

Nothing was more important to Mom than family, she leaves a large void in all our lives, but we are consoled knowing that she is in heaven watching over us all.
