McFarland - Betty M. Blakely, age 83, passed away at her home in McFarland on Saturday, December 31, 2011. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on November 26, 1928, a daughter of Gilford and Mildred (Martin) Heath. She was united in marriage to Norman Hale Blakely on April 15, 1954 at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Dubuque, Iowa.
Betty is survived by her children, Linda (Bruce) Arendsee of Madison, Elaine Blakely of League City, TX, Charles Blakely of Madison, and Art (Sandy) Blakely of Madison; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Dennis) O'Kane, Christopher (Rachel) Aaroen, Amanda Colvin (special friend Jeff), Cynthia (Chris) Kauten, Maggie (Ken) Ring, Timothy Blakely, and Mariah Arendsee; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William (Sally) Heath. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Dorothy Kading, Loretta McEvilly and Barbara Namio; her husband, Hale; and daughter-in-law, Victoria Blakely. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2012, followed by a brief service at 4:00pm at the Cress Funeral Home in McFarland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local Salvation Army.
